BlackOak Rewards

Points that mean something
at the shop that issued them.

BlackOak Rewards is being designed so that a merchant funds their own program and the value comes back to their own counter — rather than being pooled into a balance the customer spends somewhere else.

01

A reward is a reason to come back, not a currency.

Most loyalty programs pool value into a single balance, which quietly moves a customer's next visit to whichever business is cheapest that week. BlackOak is being designed the other way round: the merchant who funded the reward is the merchant who receives the return. Points are earned per shop, redeemed at that shop, and applied to an order rather than paid out — so the value stays a reason to return.

01

Earned per shop

Points are attributed to the merchant whose transaction created them, on eligible merchandise. The program a merchant funds is the program a merchant benefits from.

02

Redeemed where earned

Value returns to the counter that issued it. A balance spread across many shops is not one pot of money, and the design does not pretend otherwise.

03

Applied as a discount

Redemption is designed to reduce an order rather than move money, which keeps the mechanic clear for the customer and simple for the merchant's reconciliation.

04

Settled, not promised

Rewards are designed to post when a transaction settles and reverse when it is refunded, so the ledger reflects completed business rather than authorizations.

Part of one
connected system.

Rewards sit on top of the commerce foundation. A merchant can begin with payment acceptance, add a rewards program when the volume justifies it, and extend into Marketplace discovery or an affinity program as the customer relationship deepens.
